Creation of connected tourism product of significant scale and traction that can attract visitors and increase revenue in the town of Clonmel.
Extended Description:
Identification of a primary vision, practical requirements and an economic basis for developing a coherent tourism experience in Clonmel and the greater area through the upgrading of the gallery in Tipperary County Museum, the conservation and development of the Westgate Tower and the provision of interpretation along the River Suir, all in the context of Ireland’s Ancient East. The over-riding objective is to create an enticing, exciting, visitor experience that enhances the brand of Tipperary Tourism and Ireland’s Ancient East and that can deliver real substantial economic benefit.
Delivery of original concepts, research, storylines, layouts, connectivity, costings, feasibilities, business-planning and projections.
MIRADOR MEDIA and CRANE BAG were recruited by open tender to design and develop a new connected tourism product of scale and traction for Clonmel. Client ambition was to jump visitor footfall from 10,000 to 100,000 in 5 years.
High-level review carried out by consulting team indicated that the existing product, based around the County Museum and the currently semi-derelict Westgate Tower, even if imaginatively redeveloped, would be insufficient to deliver significant increase in visitor footfall. The consulting team opened immediate discussions with Bulmers and secured their support for an expanded product including a ‘Guinness Store House’ type experience in the iconic 19th century Vat House in Clonmel Town. Full conceptual and thematic briefs now completed for three major new attractions at the Museum, West Gate Tower and Bulmers Vat House capable of attracting and distributing 100,000+ visitors annually across all three. Detailed design, floor layouts, storylines, interpretative media and all associated costs prepared, suitable for subsequent RFT for delivery. Full 5-year business projections also prepared for each attraction.
