national 1798 rebellion centre
The National 1798 Rebellion Centre is based in Enniscorthy, Co wexford and depicts events surrounding the 1798 uprising, an integral part of Irish history. The centre was opened in 1998 with a state of the art audio visual experience. Over the years the technology had become outdated and limited. The centre required an upgrade and the old complex audio visual system needed to be updated and simplified.
Mirador Media has just completed the major re-development of The National 1798 Centre in may of 2013. An exceptional, cutting-edge, interactive experience, telling the epic tale of the 1798 Rebellion.
New exhibits bring the visitor face-to-face with some of the key figures of the Rebellion including General Gerard Lake, "Tom the Devil" of the North Cork Militia and the United Irishmen, Anthony Perry and Miles Byrne. Other characters such as the Blacksmith, Doctor and Nurse portray the turmoil of the Rebellion on the civilian population, while we follow the journey of John Shehan, "The Croppy Boy" on his way to Vinegar Hill on 'The Longest Day', 21st June 1798.
As in the Rebellion itself, the highlight of the exhibition is our re-creation of the Battle of Vinegar Hill, where you are invited to face the full onslaught of the Crown Forces in a 360 degrees audio visual holographic show.
Watch the video trailer below, made by Mirador Media, to experience a brief overview of our work at the centre.
